Two Dogs Found Shelter In A Californian School

One of the greatest challenges for abandoned or stray dogs living on the streets is finding shelter.

Regardless of the weather, a safe shelter is crucial for these pups. It not only protects them from the elements but also provides a place where they can feel secure—a space they can call their own.

Rescuers have discovered pups hiding in various places, from abandoned buildings to cardboard boxes. However, the pups you’re about to meet found a particularly unique temporary home.

When Suzette Hall, founder of the California-based rescue Logan’s Legacy 29, heard from her friend who worked at a local school, her heart broke.

Her friend reported that two severely matted pups had taken refuge on the school grounds because they had nowhere else to go.

“She and a few other teachers found them huddled together… They were so scared,” Hall told The Dodo.

When Hall saw the photos of the duo, her eyes filled with tears. The sight of the two white pups looking up at the school workers for help was truly heartbreaking.

Hall immediately agreed to take the two dogs in. Unfortunately, while on her way to the school, her car broke down, delaying her arrival by a few hours.

But, not to worry… while waiting for Hall, the school staff decided to get together and relocate the scared dogs somewhere where they would be safer. A brave janitor gently took the pups to an empty bathroom while the teachers took turns watching over them while trying to feed them.

“[A teacher] had given them her lunch, but there was broccoli everywhere. Apparently, they don’t like broccoli,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.

When Hall finally arrived at the California school, she was shocked by the poor physical condition of the dogs.

“I honestly could not believe it when I saw them. They had dreadlocks and [were] so dirty … they looked like two little [ragamuffins],” Hall added.

A New Chapter

Initially, the sweet pups, later named Maggie and Mack, were frightened of their rescuers. However, they soon realized that these humans were there to help.

After some effort, Hall managed to get them into a carrier and load them into her van, taking them straight to the Camino Pet Hospital.

“[The] sweet babies were so tired, they fell asleep in my trap. They could finally sleep … they knew they were safe,” Hall wrote.

Upon arrival, Maggie and Mack received a thorough medical evaluation and a much-needed haircut.

The hospital staff meticulously shaved the matted fur from their bodies, and it was heartening to see how much happier the pups were without their heavy coats.

After a long day and a challenging rescue, both the pups and the humans could finally relax.

When the results finally came in, everyone was relieved to discover that both sweet pups were in perfect health.

Maggie and Mack received plenty of pets, cuddles, and delicious treats as a reward for being so wonderful.

Final Word

The pups are now with their foster family, adjusting to life as house dogs.

Fortunately, in such a loving environment, they are adjusting quickly and feeling better with each passing day.

Hall is working hard to find these incredible pups a loving home as soon as possible. In the meantime, she and her team are showering Maggie and Mack with love and affection, hoping to help them forget their dark past.

“Layer by layer, we will put the past behind them. But they [are] finally safe,” Hall concluded.
